Hiking in Tasmania

Wilderness, rainforests and waterfalls

One of the best hiking destinations in Australia, Tasmania is home to unique temperate rainforest, true alpine country, some of the last remaining wilderness in the country and more waterfalls than you can poke a hiking stick at. With so many hikes to explore, it will take a while to get through most of them but that just means more trips to this fantastic place.

A plethora of national parks house a variety of day hikes and longer multi-day experiences. The list of 60 Great Short Walks of Tasmania is a great place to start but there are hidden gems all over the state waiting to be explored. Hopefully over the years this page fills up with trails as I explore this amazing part of the world.
