With plans made to complete my sectional end to end over the summer, this section was a favourite to complete early on as it is one I already familiar with being a maintenance volunteer (between Possum Springs and Yourdamung). With some of the lushest Jarrah forest in the state, the hike from Dwellingup going south is a delight and although there are intrusions on your wilderness experience here and there, the walk to Collie offers up a good amount of variety and wonder as you travel through a variety of landscapes in different conditions.

Dwellingup to Swamp Oak

Length - 13.3km

Vertical Climb - 300m

Departing Dwellingup, you immediately head into the lush Jarrah Forest as you make you way towards Lane Poole Reserve and Swamp Oak Campsite.

Swamp Oak to Murray

Length - 18.5km

Vertical Climb - 535m

A challenging day full of hills and Jarrah forest, you are rewarded with a campsite right on the Murray River where you can enjoy a relaxing afternoon and a swim.

Murray to Dookanelly

Length - 17.6km

Vertical Climb - 415m

Following the course of the Murray River and heading into the hills above, this day is mostly spent exploring the seemingly endless forests of Lane Poole Reserve.

Dookanelly to Possum Springs

Length - 22.6km

Vertical Climb - 495m

Finally crossing the Murray River on the new Bilya Djena Suspension Bridge, this is another long stretch of forest walking on towards Possum Springs Campsite.

Length - 19.3km

Vertical Climb - 370m

Walking through a variety of landscapes including Jarrah Forest, Paperbark Swamps and the Harris River Flats, this is a lovely day of walking.

Yourdamung to Harris Dam

Length - 14.0km

Vertical Climb - 237m

A short section of the Bibbulmun, there are some beautiful forests between Yourdamung and Harris Dam Campsite to slow down and appreciate.

Length - 21.0km

Vertical Climb - 371m

Finishing off this section is a lovely hike into the biggest track town on the whole journey. Pass Harris Dam before walking through a mix of forest types into town.
